Dear Friends,
God never intended that we would not have annual holydays. Just the opposite, He commanded us to observe annual festivals over and over again throughout Scripture. That's why the Bible is very clear that Christ and the apostles continued to celebrate all of the holydays commanded by God in the new covenant just as they had done for their entire life.
They knew Jesus never told anyone that they needed to keep the weekly feast day per Leviticus 23:1-3 but to stop keeping the annual feast days listed in the rest of the chapter.
Furthermore, the verses from the writings of Paul used by Christians who cherish a contempt for the moral obligation Christians have to keep the sabbath are the exact same passages that unconverted Seventh-day Adventists use to teach people against observing the annual festivals.
Another observation made over the decades is that I can not understand why all of the mainstream Seventh-day Adventist evangelists use the example of the apostles keeping the sabbath in the New Covenant era as evidence for us to continue sabbath observance today but when I show them even more scripture evidence of the apostles and their converts celebrating the feast days they shrug it off and say... "Oh, that's because the apostles were involved in Jewish evangelism or they were still secretly cherishing Jewish pride by observing ceremonial laws which were blotted out, against us, contrary to us and nailed to the cross."
In essence every mainstream Seventh-day Adventist Evangelist teaches that we are all better off following the example of modern SDA evangelists than we are following the example of the apostles and Christ Himself. |
