AN OPEN LETTER TO
LARRE KOSTENKO

John Vega
October 20, 2016

Dear Brother Larre,

I intentionally omitted the title "pastor", not to be disrespectful but because of the following principle of Christ as expressed by Sister White.
"Yahushua (Jesus) impressed upon the people that they were to give no man a title of honor indicating his control of their conscience or their faith." Desire of Ages p 613.2

It was good seeing you and everyone else at the Golden Feather church chilli cookoff last Sunday. I and my guests Jerry and Renee had a very nice time. Thank you for taking the time to write me (letter below). Thank you for clarifying the conditions necessary for me to enjoy fellowship at the churches and church functions that you are overseeing. I have to tell you plainly that I can not accept the terms and conditions for fellowship that you have outlined for me to follow in order to continue enjoying fellowship with your churches and church functions as they are based upon the traditions of men and not upon the commandments of God. Better men than I have said "we ought to obey God rather than man."

That being said, I also want to explain in greater detail why it is impossible for me, a conscientious, 5th generation, Bible believing Seventh-day Adventist missionary to conform to your request. After many years of study and careful investigation of the subject of God's holidays I determined that If the eternal nature of God's feast days as listed in Leviticus 23 can not be studied and evangelized at the churches you are overseeing then my conscious can not allow me to attend. The reasons are as follows.
It is my understanding that to forbid the study and promotion of the observance of God's holidays as listed in Leviticus 23 is paramount to forbidding the study and promotion of the seventh-day Sabbath and Messiah/Christ in the plan of salvation. It is also my understanding that studying the annual sabbaths is the same as studying the weekly sabbath as all of God's holy feast days, weekly sabbath included, are memorials of God's great plan and process of salvation of His church. God's people are commanded to observe all of the feast days listed in Leviticus 23 for time and eternity just as the apostles of Yahushua Messiah (Jesus Christ) taught us by precept and example.

Time is the essence of life and the best way we can show our love for someone is to meet with them and spend personal time with them. Sometimes fathers are too busy to spend time with their children so they purchase gifts for their children rather than spending time with them but gifts are never as good as if the father actualy spent time with the children he claims to love. We have a heavenly Father who not only showers us with tokens of his love and who sent His only begotten son as a free gift to us but who also loves to meet with us His children to spend time with Him and each other at specific times of the day, week and year and to celebrate the eternal love he has for them. I chose to obey God and spend time with Yahuwah when he determines I should. This is one of the primary ways that God's children are expected and commanded to demonstrate their love for God and God's converted Children love to do the will of their Father which is in heaven. God's loving children do not dread to spend time with their heavenly Father but rather they are always excited and eager and they make plans well in advance of the scheduled holidays how and where they will spend time with God and their brothers and sisters during the commanded seasons of joy.

While I am writing this reply to your letter (copied below) I would like to take opportunity to share with you a quick study on how the Apostle Paul celebrated the feast of Passover and unleavened bread with his gentile Philippian converts after the cross and how Paul later wrote to the Philippians and encouraged them to continue putting into practice what they had seen Paul do.

Here it goes..

Acts 20:6 "And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.

Sister White's Commentary on The Philippians Celebration of Passover

"At Philippi Paul tarried to keep the Passover. Only Luke remained with him, the other members of the company passing on to Troas to await him there. The Philippians were the most loving and truehearted of the apostle’s converts, and during the eight days of the feast he enjoyed peaceful and happy communion with them." – {AA 390.4}

We notice from studying this account that nothing is mentioned about Paul celebrating the Passover with the Philippians because he was trying to reach out to the Jewish population in that city.

Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary on Acts 20:6

"Paul seems to have stayed intentionally at Philippi because of the Jewish feast. The Passover season must have continued to be fraught with great religious sentiment for Paul, a Jew and a Pharisee (Acts 23:6). Perhaps also Christians were beginning to think of the Passover time as the anniversary of Christ's death and resurrection." SDA Bible Commentary Vol 6 page 386

Before Paul wrote the book of the Philippians, the Philippians had observed Paul celebrate Passover and the feast of unleavened bread with them. Keep that in mind while reading this.

"Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me--put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you." Philippians 4:9

It is wonderful to note that if we desire the peace of God to be with us we must put into practice the example of the apostle Paul and clearly the apostle Paul kept the feast of Passover and unleavened bread.

THE PHILIPPIANS WERE NOT JEWS

Contrary to the opinion of most Seventh-day Adventists, the Philippians were not Jews and Paul did not observe the feast of unleavened bread with the Philippians because he was trying to influence the Jewish population in that city, There was no Jewish population or Jewish synagogue in that city. This explains why the Philippians would habitually worship and pray down at the riverside and not in a synagogue.

Acts 16:13 And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.

Paul was not in Philippi celebrating the feast of unleavened bread with the Philippians because they were Jewish. Paul was there celebrating the feast of Passover and unleavened bread with the gentile Philippian converts because he was walking in obedience to a perpetual commandment of God.

Leviticus 23:5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD’S passover.
6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
7 In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
8 But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

Following in the blueprint worship patterns of the primitive church and the Apostles is the only religion that Christ ever approved of and that is the primary focus of every truly converted Christian.

"Therefore let us keep the feast" 1 Cor 5:8

The sabbath is a feast day.
Leviticus 23:
1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.3Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

The essence of the three angels messages is to come out of Babylon with the false doctrines that have mixed into the church over the centuries. God's people today are moving forward and teaching a fuller meaning of what it means to come out of Babylon including coming out and away from all of the pagan rooted holidays that Rome has caused the church to follow. While we forsake that which is not true and Biblical we embrace by faith the last Elijah message with the commandments, statutes and judgments written in the law of Moses.

"Remember to obey the Law of Moses, my servant which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, the statutes and judgments.
Malachi 4:4

A Profession Of Faith From The Church Of Constantinople in the year 325 C.E.(A.D.)
Under The Emperor Constantine

I renounce all customs, rites, legalisms. unleavened breads & sacrifices of lambs of the Hebrews, and all other feasts of the Hebrews, sacrifices, prayers, aspersions, purifications, sanctifications and propitiations and fasts, and new moons, and Sabbaths, and superstitions, and hymns and chants and observances and Synagogues, and the food and drink of The Hebrews; in one word, I renounce everything Jewish, every law, rite and custom and if afterwards I shall wish to deny and return to Jewish superstition, or shall be found eating with The Jews, or feasting with them, or secretly conversing and condemning the Christian religion instead of openly confuting them and condemning their vain faith, then let the trembling of Gehazi cleave to me, as well as the legal punishments to which I acknowledge myself liable. And may I be anathema in the world to come, and may my soul be set down with Satan and the devils.

I have resolutely and conscientiously decided long ago NOT to follow in the religion of Constantine. I have decided to live by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God and to celebrate ALL of God's holidays and not just the Seventh-day Sabbath.

"And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law [Torah], and commandments which I HAVE WRITTEN; that thou mayest teach them."(Exo. 24:12)
"In consequence of continual transgression, the moral law was repeated in awful grandeur from Sinai. Christ gave to Moses religious precepts which were to govern the everyday life. These statutes were explicitly given to guard the ten commandments. They were not shadowy types to pass away with the death of Christ. They were to be binding upon man in every age as long as time should last. These commands were enforced by the power of the moral law, and they clearly and definitely explained that law." (RH, May 6, 1875)
“The instructions given to Moses for ancient Israel, with their sharp, rigid outlines, are to be studied and obeyed by the people of God today.” (Letter 259, 1903)

According to King David the statutes are a salvation issue and feast days are statutes as listed in Leviticus 23:14, 21, 31, 41. King David also tels us that people that do not seek the statutes are "wicked".

Psalms 119:155 "Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes."

I myself cannot speak for others but I can speak for myself and I chose to follow the commandments, statutes and judgments of God and the example of the apostle Paul rather than the vain traditions of men who deny Christ by denying Christ's holy feast days and by forbidding their parishioners to follow Christ's example. How people can claim to have abandoned the teachings of Rome and Babylonian doctrines and at the same time continue to follow the calendar of Rome's/Babylon's holiday system is beyond me.

"woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!" 1 Corinthians 9:16

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16

I end with the very first passage of Sister White that I ever committed to memory.

"But light and darkness cannot harmonize. Between truth and error there is an irrepressible conflict. To uphold and defend the one is to attack and overthrow the other."
1888 Great Controversy p126.3

Respectfully and prayerfully submitted,
John Vega

It amazes me that no matter how clear God's end time prophet says to keep the feast days, self righteous, stubborn, Laodicean Seventh-day Adventists will obstinately refuse to acknowledge what is plainly written. They put a spin on Sister White's writings and do some fantastic mental gymnastics to get around the plain meaning rather than simply accepting the quote at face value. It is a very sad, knee jerk reaction most have to the feast day truth and the result is that they bring upon themselves the curses of Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28.

Dear John

It was great to see you at the social and meet your friends. Per a church board vote, just a heads up, you are welcome to attend church functions and SS & Church, as long as you do not use the church as a forum to promote your beliefs/ideas that differ from those of the church. This would include promoting those ideas among our church family in person, or by other means such as e mail. Please let me know that you got this message.

All the best
